German & Landeskunde

German for younger learners and beginners, conversational practice for adults, pronunciation, reading comprehension, everyday language, and practical insight into German culture and life.

Advanced grammar-focused tutoring is not currently offered.

Additional subjects may be available upon request. Selected computer science courses and European history & politics can also be considered.

A personal approach

Individual attention. Clear explanations.

Every student learns differently. My goal is not simply to work through the next homework problem, but to identify where understanding breaks down and explain the material in a way that makes sense to the individual student.

I personally provide every tutoring session. There is no tutor matching, no rotating staff, and no handoff to someone else.

About Tobias

A mathematical and scientific background — with experience being the student who needed a different explanation.

My academic path is not the typical straight line. I returned to university as a nontraditional student and earned a BS in Computational & Applied Mathematical Sciences with a Biology concentration from Plymouth State University, graduating summa cum laude.

I later earned an ScM in Biotechnology from Brown University and worked in academic research. My background spans mathematics, quantitative science, biology, chemistry, physics, and the life sciences.

I also know what it is like to sit in front of a problem and simply not see the way forward. Good tutoring can change that by explaining the same idea in a different order, from a different angle, until it becomes understandable.

German is my native language, and I also offer beginner-focused German tutoring, conversational practice, and Landeskunde.
